About Bowtie Cleaning

Bowtie Cleaning became Bowtie in 2016, when Wayne Hoffmann bought the equipment from a company then called Discount Carpet Cleaning.

Wayne had been in general contracting before that. It was hard work, and over time the risk started to feel like too much; risk to himself, and risk to the business. Carpet cleaning looked like something he could carry into retirement.

So he bought the equipment.

Then he changed the name.

“Discount” did not say what he wanted the company to be. Wayne wanted people to look at the name and expect good service, reliable service, trusted service. Something more careful than the cheapest option.

That is where Bowtie came from.

As Wayne puts it, “a bowtie is something extra.”

That was the idea then. It still is.

Before Bowtie

Before Wayne took the company forward, it was run by Dale Walton under the name Discount Carpet Cleaning. Dale was a Christian man with a good heart. He wanted to get into homes, help people, and do the best he could.

After Dale became sick, Wayne bought the equipment and started learning the business.

The work itself made sense to him. Wayne grew up on a farm, and he came out of what he calls a “70s and 80s work ethic.” On the farm, you worked from sunup to sundown. You did not make a big production out of it. You worked until the work was done.

That is still in Bowtie.

Wayne has said he is not much of a salesman. More of an order taker. He would rather look at the carpet, listen to what the customer wants, explain what he sees, and do the work.

Not every customer is the right fit for that. Wayne has a simple way of saying it: “I appreciate those who appreciate.”

What Customers Have Taught Us

Customers have taught us that trust matters more than anything we can say about ourselves.

They let us into their homes. They show us the room everyone uses, the pet spot they are embarrassed about, the hallway that keeps getting dark, the hard floor they have mopped over and over.

Sometimes that question opens up the whole history of the carpet. We may learn there was pet urine in that room. Or that another cleaner was there a few months ago. Or that a spot disappeared wet, then came back after it dried. Or that the carpet is older than it looks. Or newer than it looks, but has been carrying the same traffic pattern every day.

That is why we like to investigate before we clean.

It keeps misunderstandings from happening. It helps the customer know what is possible before the work starts. It helps us choose the right process instead of guessing from the doorway.

We do not ever want a customer to feel misled.

What we say is what we do.

We don’t clean carpet, we get carpets cleaner.

What We Believe About The Work.

Every surface takes soil differently.

A guest bedroom is not a staircase. A hallway is not a living room. Pet urine is not traffic soil. A hard floor is not carpet. Upholstery is not a rug.

Every home has its own habits. Kids, pets, shoes, spills, body oils, food, dust, time; they all leave different marks.

Your carpet is not going to wear the same way as someone else’s carpet. Your traffic lanes, pet areas, stains, hard floors, and upholstery all have their own history.

That is why we do not like pretending we know everything from a quick phone call.

We can give ranges. We can explain what usually happens. But before we tell you what a carpet needs, we want to see it, ask the right questions, and understand what result you are hoping for.

Then we can tell you what it will take.

Sometimes it is a standard clean. Sometimes it needs more agitation, more edge work, pet treatment, odor treatment, Scotchgard, or a different plan.

Sometimes the honest answer is that the carpet is worn, not dirty. Or the stain is permanent. Or the problem reached the backing or pad. Or we can improve it, but not erase it.

We would rather say that before the job than pretend after.

How We Clean

Carpet yarns hold more than loose dirt.

They can hold oily traffic soil, pet residue, old cleaner, skin flakes, fine dust, grit, food residue, and the buildup that settles into the same paths over time.

So our process has steps.

We apply a cleaning agent. We brush traffic areas. We rinse and vacuum-recover with the Rotovac. We overlap our passes. We use a rinse agent. We make a finish pass to pull more water back out.

That is the normal Bowtie way of thinking through a carpet.

For some homes, that is not enough. Pet urine, odor, heavy soil, filtration lines, worn traffic lanes, and old stains may change the job. When they do, we explain the difference before we do the work.

More than carpet.

Bowtie started with carpet, but we are building toward full surface cleaning.

Hard floors collect soil, mop residue, buildup, and grime in seams, texture, grout lines, and low spots. Upholstery takes on skin oils, pet hair, crumbs, spills, and everyday use. Carpet carries the paths people walk, the places pets lay, and the rooms families actually live in.

Carpet, hard floors, upholstery, pet areas, Scotchgard protection, and maintenance all belong in the same conversation.

They are the surfaces people live on.

That is the work we want to understand better and better.

Bowtie Preferred

Most people call when something finally feels overdue.

That makes sense. Homes are busy. Floors do not remind anyone when they need care.

Bowtie Preferred is our maintenance program for customers who want to stay ahead of that. Preferred customers build cleaning credit, receive better pricing, get no minimum service charge, priority scheduling, and reminders.

It is part of the Bowtie experience we are working toward.

Better communication. Better follow-up. Better maintenance. A better way to help customers care for the home before everything feels overdue again.

We want to give customers a truly Bowtie experience, so we have work to do.

We do not use that as a sales pitch. We serve the people in front of us.

For us, faith should show up in how the company is run. Tell the truth. Do careful work. Treat people with respect. Do not promise what cannot be promised. Stand behind what should be stood behind.

Serve without acting like service is a favor.

That is the aim.

We are still responsible for getting better.
